VoidMate Proves Technology Key To Critical Rail Industry Issues
Datum CEO Rory O’Rourke has told Rail Engineer that technology is key to issues critical within the rail industry.
He tells the July edition of Rail Engineer that innovative solutions such as Datum’s VoidMate and RailtempMate are vital in ensuring an ageing, but largely robust rail infrastructure continues to flourish.
The Datum developed VoidMate provides continuous measurement of dynamic track voiding and removes the need to send engineers to track. It means the data is more reliable, consistent and safer than traditional monitoring techniques.
Information is streamed continuously to Permanent Way Managers who can view data remotely via smartphone, tablet or computer – whilst alarms will alert users when upper or lower limits are reached.
The RailtempMate provides remote critical rail temperature monitoring. Both are solar powered and capable of remaining in the field indefinitely, reducing costs and providing information key to scheduling repair and ongoing maintenance work.
Both the RailtempMate and VoidMate are Network Rail approved and are the result of Datum’s desire to develop technological solutions to aging problems.
O’Rourke, tells Rail Engineer he believes this ‘innovative, technological approach could provide the key to a whole manner of issues critical to the rail industry’ and beyond.
