Datum Director Chris Fielding showed his steel at the Mallorca Ironman.
The triathlete wanted to push his limits further than before and entered his debut Ironman for the challenge.
His challenge comprised of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bicycle ride and a marathon 26.22-mile run in the heat of the Spanish sun.
Not only did he finish this eye watering competition he did it in a very impressive 12:22:46.
“I wanted to challenge myself, to see if I could do it and push myself,’ Chris explained.
“I enjoy triathlons and usually race Sprints and Olympic distance but I’ve never considered an Ironman before.
“It was a tremendous experience and it wasn’t as bad as I’d expected. The last 13 miles were really tough but I’m pleased to say I didn’t slow down.
“I’m glad I did it, I’m not sure if I will do another as the training takes over your life but I wouldn’t rule it out. We have other challenges on the horizon for 2017.”
Chris will tackle the 61-mile Fellsman hike in 2017 and plans to climb the Matterhorn.
