DYWIDAG-Systems International (DSI) Acquires Datum Group

Global engineering giant DYWIDAG-Systems International (DSI) – https://www.dywidag-systems.com/ – has today (1st October 2018) announced its acquisition of UK-based leading global monitoring company, Datum Group.

Speaking about the acquisition, Rory O’Rourke, CEO of Datum Group, said “DSI is an impressive business with a history of excellence built on reputation and as a pivotal component of its Global Services Division, will enable Datum to expand and grow to meet the vast opportunities presented to the company by HS2 and other major projects. Together DSI and Datum are well positioned to deliver innovation and technology to meet the challenges set by the customers of each company across the world.”

Speaking about the acquisition, Matti Kuivalainen, CEO DYWIDAG-Systems International said “The ageing infrastructure presents a huge growth opportunity for DYWIDAG-Systems International and with the acquisition of Datum we enter to infrastructure health monitoring segment of it. This is strategically a very important milestone for us.”

Who is DYWIDAG-Systems International (DSI)?

DYWIDAG-Systems International (DSI) supplies innovative products and systems for the Construction industry.

DSI provide customers with engineered and highly reliable systems for Post-Tensioning, Geotechnical applications, Global Services and Concrete Accessories. DSI is owned by Triton, who invest in and support the positive development of medium-sized businesses headquartered in Europe, focusing on businesses in the Industrial, Business Services and Consumer/Health sectors.

Why did Datum sell to DSI?

The opportunities in the monitoring industry are so vast that a company of Datum’s size could not compete. Datum needed to secure external investment to ensure that the business remains competitive.

 What is the new role of Rory O’Rourke?

Effective 1st October 2018, Rory will take up the position as the new ‘Head of Sales & Marketing, Global Services’ for DSI, which includes Datum in the UK. He will remain based from Manchester but will travel globally.

Will Datum HQ still be the same?

Yes, the HQ office will remain at the Bury site in Manchester and there are no plans for this to change.

Is Datum keeping its name and branding?

Yes, Datum is keeping its name and brand identity.

Will my points of contact at Datum remain the same?

Yes, there is no change to the day-to-day running of the business, your points of contact for customer service, accounts and other departments remain the same.

Will there be new product/services available as a result of the acquisition?

Datum will represent DSI’s Infrastructure Health Monitoring. Datum will envelope all DSI’s existing product range of sensors. Datum will be part of a team offering a range of service for Inspection, Monitoring and Specialist Repair.
