2D & 3D autoCAD plan and section drawings

AutoCAD is a 2-D and 3-D computer-aided drafting software application used in architecture, construction, and manufacturing to assist in the preparation of blueprints and other engineering plans The modern version of the software includes a full set of tools for solid modelling and 3-D. AutoCAD also supports numerous application program interfaces for automation and customisation.

Star*net, N4CE, LSS data processing

STAR*NET handles networks containing conventional observations combined with GPS vectors, with up to 10,000 adjustable stations. Differential levelling observations can also be included within a 3D adjustment.

Whether a survey consists of a single-loop traverse or a complex network of interconnecting traverses, all observations are adjusted simultaneously to produce a single best-fit solution N4CE & LSS are survey processing packages with modelling functionality.

Multiple types of data can be imported into a project, including raw survey data, point coordinates, CAD drawings, 3d models, alignments and images. All interact in one unified environment and are stored in a single file.

BIM Modelling

Datum can provide detailed and accurate BIM Modelling services for clients. BIM – or building information modelling – coupled with the 3D CAD modelling provides a complete database of information.

Using 3D laser scanning our engineers are able to create a complete model with individual elements including walls, to windows, floors to doors clearly defined. The result of the BIM Modelling process allows subsequent creation of 2D plans with sections and elevations generated from any defined position of direction. BIM Modelling can also contain structural elements, referred to as MEP modelling (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) to provide a complete solution. The BIM model means information can be easily exchanged reducing the risk for errors through estimation, duplication or interpretation of data.

Scan registration

3D laser scanning or high definition surveys are regarded as the most efficient way of collecting spacial data of an environment. It is a fast and efficient process and, with the incorporation of cloud point tools, is rapidly becoming the standard method of data capture for a vast range of applications. Scanning provides a solution to the most complex data collection from architectural to industrial challenges.

Point cloud or mesh from images

3D Mesh modelling are created for clients requiring a vector representation of irregular or organically shaped subjects.

Metric images from photogrammetry

Datum can produce orthophotos to a pixel size as small as 1mm. This can involve standard digital photography or imagery created from the point cloud or a combination of both methods.

Aveva PDMS (intelligent) modelling

AVEVA PDMS is a 3D plant design application for accurate and clash-free plant design and dedicated to a range of industrial installations. The latest AVEVA software E3D is fully compatible with standard format PDMS v.12.1 sp5. The PDMS forms a database which provides the ability to schedule components, for example the quantity of bolts of a particular size.


TruView allows inexperienced users to take advantage of the 3D laser scanning technology and limit site visits to a minimum. By combining 360 degree panoramic images and scan data the user can take measures and pick 3D coordinate values. TruView allows manager and engineers to communicate adding comments and highlighting areas of interest. TruView can be generated in black and white or real colour and is an essential tool and aid in the CAD to cloud conversation.
